The primary consideration in judging will be your personal style and the degree to which you make use of the $50 spending limit. For example, in the event of a tie between two entrants, a multi-piece look assembled entirely from thrift store purchases for under $50 will be judged more favorably than an outfit consisting mainly of existing pieces from your closet and one $50 thrift store coat. At the end of each month we will have a different fashion insider review the entries from the past few weeks and pick his or her five favorites.
The five winners will each receive cash prizes ($100 if we get fewer than 49 different entrants in the month and $500 if per winner if 50 or more individuals enter the contest). And, because a properly understood concept of thrift includes an element of generosity as well (“Make all you can, save all you can, give all you can”), we will also donate $100 to a charity of each winner’s choosing from the following list: Goodwill, The Salvation Army, any local charity-based thrift store of the winner’s choosing.
