It’s December, which means we’ve reached the end of our first year of Thrift Store Runway. Thanks to every one of you who have made this first year such a success–you are all doing a great job of proving to the world how a thrifty lifestyle can be stylish, fun, and fabulous and we’re excited to see what you come up with in 2013. To mark the occasion of our first year of existence, we’re once again inviting some of our most successful contestants to be the judges for this cycle.
Fly Won is a Master thrifter and reseller of vintage women’s wear on www.flysnest.com. She is passionate about finding the most unique, one of a kind and substantial vintage pieces for her customers. Her brand promotes the recycling of clothing as a fashionable option while “going green.” She has been recognized for her fashion sense and thrifting expertise by various blogs, Lucky Mag, and Goodwill of North Georgia among many other publications. Currently she is preparing for a re-launch and expansion of her online vintage boutique based in the Atlanta, GA area. [EDITOR'S NOTE: She is also our winning-est entrant of all time.]

Phoebe Verkouw is the brain behind the thrifted fashion blog, The Dress Fiend. She’s a bona fide thrift store junkie obsessed with finding the most amazing items for next to nothing. It’s been a passion of hers since middle school when she and her mom used to peruse all the hip thrift stores. Phoebe’s mom is an impeccable seamstress and taught her from an early age what was fashionable, fit well, made well, and how to spot out the hidden gems while thrifting.
Phoebe currently works at a local museum in Sacramento, CA as a Special Events Assistant and holds a B.A. in Art History from the University of California at Davis. She has also worked as a Styling Assistant for a local magazine, enjoys photography, and was most recently seen twice on a local news station promoting thifting and her blog. Phoebe’s motto is that “high fashion is attainable with a little creativity and a lot of savviness.” Her ultimate goal is to teach women and men that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to look amazing. Through thrifting, Phoebe gained back self-confidence that had been lacking and was able to hone a creative side that is now blossoming. She hopes that her years of experience thrifting can help someone else be the inner fashionista they’ve always wanted to be…
