Ok, Thrift Store Runway readers, how many of you love altering your thrift store finds into whole new fabulous creations of your own design? Those of you who give your second-hand garments and little extra love via a needle and some thread will be especially happy to meet this month’s judge.
Deana Tierney May is the editor of Threads and SewStylish magazines. Threads is the premier magazine for sewing enthusiasts and SewStylish focuses entirely on fashion sewing. Deana has been in love with sewing for almost as long as she has been in love with magazines—she vividly recalls tugging on her mother’s pants leg at the grocery store, begging for fashion magazines at an early age then poring over pattern books to get the looks. Luckily, her mother indulged her passions for both, buying the magazines she yearned for and teaching her how to sew her own clothes. Deana has worked on a variety of magazine publications, including Vanity Fair, Fine Gardening, and Inspired House before joining the Threads team in 2006. She has also taken sewing and tailoring classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
Welcome to Thrift Store Runway Deana! We’re thrilled to have you as our judge for the month!
